>> good morning it is 5:00 a.m., thursday, february 8. you know the big story we're following. >> pretty obvious, the stage is set and fans are ready for the biggest parade in philadelphia history. the city is about to celebrate the super bowl championship. >> fans are expected to flock to mass transit to get to center city and see the five mile victory lap. there are concerns it could be difficult to get a spot on the packed trains. >> taking live look at thebenjy are about ready to close it for if you're there, you need to bundle up. >> indeed you do. we are making sure you're ready for the parade with everything you need to know. we have team coverage, we have vernon odem and jeanette reyes

who will be with us with fans are camp out all night. veteran is at the norristown train station watching people get to center city. >> first let's talk about the weather and traffic. >> reporter: we've seen peopleg. >> reporter: it's cold out there. you can see cloud leftover from rain coast. wesd we're expecting a transitn to mostly sunny 27 allento 29 in millville. 32 in cape may. there's a bit of a wind blowing trenton. 18 in 14 in allentown andding. that's down a bit. 19 degrees in millville. winds running in the teens. on your way out be careful under foot and under your tires, the rain is over from yesterday, temperatures have crashed below

freezing that may have frozen up icy patches on roads and sidewalks anywhere the rain didn't have a chance to dry off. that's a patchy slight problem. 28 degrees by 9:00 a.m. 30 by 11:00 a.m. up around freezing my 3:00 p.m. winds returning 1 to 20 miles per hour. that will make it feel like the mid 20s at the best of times today. bundle up extra gear that's the way to play it as you head to the parade. karen, what are you seeing right now? >> reporter: i'm seeing people walking around trying to get there spot. this is pattison avenue live in south philadelphia. this is where it begins at 11:00 a.m., of course the parade goes up broad street around city hall it will land on the parkway. we'll see crews out here, they are in the process of shutting this down, expect it to reopen by tomorrow morning's rush.

we'll talk about the closures coming up in just a little bit. let's look at the schuylkill expressway and check the highways. no packed traffic. this is the schuylkill expressway vine street expressway, eastbound was shut down, all is reopened. we have slick spots through the area, you have to take the ice off your car, before you head out. it is so cold this morning and the moisture from yesterday causing problems. we had an accident on snyder road that cleared in upper pottsgrove township. we had an accident walnut street schwenksville. east brandywine we have a vehicle down an embankment into trees, that cleared 322 at horse shoe pike. you get the idea, it's slick out there. expect it to be slick. today is here, hundreds of thousands of fans are expected to line broad street and congratulate the super bowl

championships philadelphia eagles. >> fans have waited for decades, now that it's reality people are doing everything they can to get a prime spot. >> some are so excited they camped out near the art museum steps. >> let's go over jeanette reyes live along the championship parade route. >> reporter: good morning, matt and tam we're on broad and wolf. on the way here we saw people sleeping in their cars and others making the trek to the art museum to get the prime spot. take a look at the video from just a few hours ago, we got a few people camping out at the art museum. wearing several layers of clothing, topping it off with the eagles jersey and hat in preparation for the colder temperatures ahead and the hours they will likely spend outside. another thing we noticed, perhaps no surprise, people parking illegally. parking spots filled up on main streets and neighborhoods many are parking on sidewalks and

curbing, in front of fire hydrants keep in mind this is well before the parade has begun. police warned that parking restrictions would be strictly enforced. appears for many it was worth the risk to get the good spot. >> we got hear before anybody else else that's the game plan. winning. >> it was cold not having a super bowl ring. it's not cold now, we won, baby! e-a-g-l-e-s! >> reporter: and those people were out at 9:00 a.m. yesterday evening and they are just going to wait at the art museum at 11:00 a.m. this morning. with that being said, bundle up, the meteorologists talk about the wind tunnel and the winds being stronger here in the city. make sure you wear the layers and get ready for a good time.
